Affiliate marketing is a great way for sellers and website owners to make money or even a lot of money if you learn to do well. However, all marketing programs affiliate are not created equal.
Here are my tips for the selection and use of affiliate programs. Following are links to some of the best affiliate programs I have found:
1. Do not confuse with affiliate programs multi-level marketing programs. There are a couple of good affiliate programs that require you to spend money to join, but most do not. If you buy a product or recruit others to spend money to join the program, then this is not an affiliate program - it is a multi-level marketing disguised as a program.
2. Choose an affiliate program that has something to do with your business. For example, if you sell expensive clothes on eBay, you would not recommend products that would be of interest to women.
3. The best programs in two levels. The first level is where you get paid for sales that you refer to people. The second level is where you get paid (a smaller amount), if a person signs as a subsidiary under you and they refer to a sale. For example, in my program, if you sell one of my books that you earn 40%. If a person signs as a subsidiary under you and they refer to the sale of one of my books, you earn 10% of the sale.
4. Beware of affiliate programs that have more than two levels. There are a couple of good affiliate programs that have three levels, but they are rare. Whenever I see a program with three or more levels, I am very hesitant to join. Why? If they pay over 50% of which means that the client can only be good. As I said, there are exceptions to this rule but they are rare.
5. Find affiliate programs that have many marketing tools such as pre-written e-mails, without articles, e-books, you can give several banners and drawings. Most tools have an affiliate program, the more you find one that works in your market.
6. Always buy a product and assess yourself before recommending it to others. Some affiliate programs there are pretty crappy, while others are simply fraudulent information. When you recommend a product or program, your reputation is on the line. You do not want people coming to complain about something that you recommend.
7. Always check your affiliate links. I see broken links to join any time. When this happens, the customer is directed to the website but you do not receive your commission and the affiliate program owner has no way of determining who should receive credit for the sale.
8. If you sell on eBay, one of the easiest ways to make affiliate commissions from your personal page. My friend Jim Cockrum, wrote one of the best books on the topic of using your eBay affiliate to generate traffic, while obeying all of the income of eBay. The book is called The Silent Sales Machine Hiding on eBay and has sold over 80,000 copies.
